Publication Ethics

Last updated: 2 October 2026

We aim to follow recognised good practice in publication ethics, informed by the core practices published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We are not currently a member of COPE.

Originality and plagiarism

Submissions must be the author’s own original, unpublished work. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is not acceptable. We may check submissions using plagiarism detection tools.

Authorship

Everyone listed as an author must have made a significant contribution to the work and agree to its publication. Other contributors should be acknowledged.

Patient confidentiality and consent

Authors must protect the confidentiality of patients, service users, families and colleagues, in line with the NMC Code and data protection law. Case studies must be anonymised. Identifiable information or images require written consent, which we may ask to see.

Research ethics

Articles that report research involving people must state whether ethical approval was obtained and from which body, or why it was not needed.

Conflicts of interest

Authors must declare any conflicts of interest. See our Conflict of Interest policy.

Use of AI

See our AI Policy.

Misconduct

If we receive a concern about possible misconduct, we will investigate it fairly and may correct or retract an article. Contact info@thenurseint.com.
