Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering The Nurse International for your work. Please read these guidelines before you submit.

Who can submit

Registered nurses of all specialities, nursing students, nurse educators, researchers and healthcare professionals.

What we accept

  • Original articles: research, innovations, case studies and professional insights
  • News and updates: nursing events, achievements, training programmes and community activities
  • Opinion pieces on nursing practice, education, leadership, policy or healthcare challenges
  • Best practice: innovative approaches and solutions that improve patient care and nursing outcomes
  • Photo stories that reflect the spirit of nursing

Topics

Clinical practice, patient safety, nursing education, leadership and management, mental health nursing, community health, public health nursing, nursing research, technology in nursing and more.

Submission requirements

  • Original, unpublished work only. Your submission must not have been published elsewhere or be under consideration by another publication.
  • Length: 800 to 2,000 words (excluding references).
  • Style: clear, concise and evidence-based.
  • Referencing: APA style (7th edition), with a full reference list.
  • Author bio: 50 to 100 words, including your role and organisation (if you wish).
  • Format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or Google Docs link.

Patient confidentiality and consent

Do not include any information that could identify a patient, service user, family member or colleague unless you have their written consent. Case studies must be fully anonymised. Photographs of people need their written permission. See our Publication Ethics statement.

Use of AI tools

If you used AI tools while preparing your submission, you must tell us how. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. See our AI Policy.

Conflicts of interest

Please declare any financial or personal interests related to your article. See our Conflict of Interest policy.

How to submit

Email your article, author bio and any images to info@thenurseint.com with the subject line “Article submission: [your article title]”.

What happens next

Our editorial team reads every submission and checks it for relevance, originality, clarity and adherence to these guidelines. We may suggest edits. Articles are not peer reviewed. We will let you know our decision by email.
